Fr. Gregory

My husband, Fr. Gregory Mathewes-Green (I still call him Gary), holding our grandson Lucas when he was brand new. We were married in 1974, just a week after I finished college. He’s the pastor of Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church just south of Baltimore, which we founded in 1993.

Everyone

Everyone came to our house for Christmas, 2009: three kids, their spouses, and 10 grandchildren, and # 11 then on the way.

Parkers

Our daughter Megan, with her husband Dave and their three children, Hannah, Adam, and Michael.

Hannah

Hannah was born Sept 16, 2000. She is in 7th grade and likes Spanish, math, and social studies.

Michael

Mike was born Aug 10, 2006. He is a big 1st grader now.

Adam was born July 22, 2002. He’s interested in magnets, planets, Woody and Buzz, and many other things. He asks a lot of good questions.

Women With Icons Series - Megan

Jocelyn is making a series of photos of women holding icons of their patron saints. This one, of Megan with St. Marina, is one of my favorites.

David Mathewes Family

Our son David, his wife, Marcella, and their children: David Benjamin, Isaac, Fintan, Eudora, Emmeline, and Evangeline then on the way.

David Benjamin

David Benjamin is my oldest grandchild. He was born May 26, 2000. He is the ninth “Benjamin Mathewes.” The first was born about 1720 in Charleston SC, home to both Mathewes and Green families.

Isaac

Their second son, Isaac, was born May 29, 2001.

Fintan

Fintan is the third son for David and Marcella. He was born June 4, 2003, only three weeks after his dad graduated from college.

Eudora

Eudora was born October 16, 2005.

Eudora's Baptism

Eudora is being held by her godfather, Uncle Stephen, as she receives her first communion. I like this photo because it looks like she’s surrounded by paparazzi.

Emmeline

Emmeline was born February 23, 2007.

Evangeline

Another little girl for David and Marcella, making it three of each. Evangeline Beatrice Rose Mathewes was born June 11, 2010. She looks like Cindy Lou Who.

Stephen Mathewes family

Our son, Fr. Stephen, with his wife Khouria Jocelyn and their children Ruth and Lucas. Fr. Steve is the pastor of Holy Resurrection Antiochian Orthodox Church in Johnson City, TN, and Kh. Jocelyn is a photographer and graphic designer at Studio Mathewes.

Ruthie

Ruth Anne was born Dec. 7, 2007. She prefers to be called Ruthie.

Lucas

Lucas Alexander was born August 27, 2009.

That tiny blonde behind the wheel is me, at about age 3 1/2 (May 1956).
