Fr. Gregory
My husband, Fr. Gregory Mathewes-Green (I still call him Gary), holding our new grandbaby, Lucas. We were married in 1974, just a week after I finished college. He’s the pastor of Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church just south of Baltimore, which we founded in 1993.
The photographer for most of these images is my daughter-in-law Jocelyn, a professional photographer & graphic designer. You can see a variety of her work at JocelynMathewes.com, and her wedding and event portfolio is at StudioMathewes.com.

Everyone came to our house for Christmas, 2009: three kids, their spouses, and 10 grandchildren, with # 11 on the way June 2010.
-
Everyone, moustached
And here we are with moustaches.
-
Engagement Photo
Here’s the photo of Gary and me that we used for the cover of our wedding invitation, Spring 1974.
-
Parkers
Our daughter Megan, with her husband Dave and their three children, Hannah, Adam, and Michael.
-
Hannah & the Twirly Dresses
Hannah was born Sept. 16, 2000, my second grandchild. She has a sewing lesson with me every Wednesday. This year we made these “Twirly Dresses” for Christmas for all the granddaughters.

Swimming
A wonderful photo by Jocelyn; very restful.
-
Adam
Adam was born July 22, 2002. He’s interested in magnets, planets, Woody and Buzz, and many other things. He asks a lot of good questions.
-
Michael
Michael was born August 10, 2006. He doesn’t really have a moustache. It’s hard to tell, because this looks so natural.

Women With Icons Series - Megan
Jocelyn is making a series of photos of women holding icons of their patron saints. This one, of Megan with St. Marina, is one of my favorites.

David Mathewes Family
Our son David, his wife, Marcella, and their children: David Benjamin, Isaac, Fintan, Eudora, Emmeline, and one more on the way.
-
David Benjamin
Our first grandchild, David Benjamin, was born May 26, 2000. He is the ninth “Benjamin Mathewes.” The first was born about 1720 in Charleston, SC, home town to both Mathewes and Green families.
-
Isaac and Steve
Their second son, Isaac, was born May 29, 2001. Here, uncle Steve helps him play the electronic drums in a game of Rock Band.
-
Fintan
Fintan is the third son for David and Marcella; he’s right in the middle, with two older brothers and two younger sisters. He was born June 4, 2003, only three weeks after his dad graduated from college.
-
The Boys
Here are David and Marcella’s three sons, David, Isaac, and Fintan, sitting on the steps of 21 King Street in Charleston, SC, the house that I grew up in.
-
Boys, silly
And this is what the boys do when Jocelyn says, “OK, now everybody act silly.”
-
Hannah & Eudora
Eudora was born October 16, 2005. She admires her cousin Hannah.
-
Evangeline
Another little girl for David and Marcella, making it three of each. Evangeline Beatrice Rose Mathewes was born June 11, 2010. Here she is being held by her big sister Eudora.
-
Eudora's Baptism
Eudora is being held by her godfather, Uncle Stephen, as she receives her first communion. I like this photo because it looks like she’s surrounded by paparazzi.
-
Emmeline
Emmeline was born February 23, 2007. She tries not to crack a smile.
-
Steve & Jocelyn
Our son Stephen, his wife Jocelyn, and their children Ruth and Lucas. Steve is a seminarian at Holy Cross Orthodox Seminary in Brookline, MA, and Jocelyn is a photographer and graphic designer.
-
Ruth
Ruth was born Dec. 7, 2007. She has very, very blue eyes.
-
Lucas
Lucas Alexander was born August 27, 2009. He looks benign and genial in a moustache.
-
Ruth meets Lucas
Having a new baby brother is so exciting!
-
Ruth and Lucas
What a smile.
-
Nostrils
All three of the M-G kids simultaneously give the secret flared-nostril salute. (Christmas 1998)
